The AREEL Film Committee determines the preliminary long list for AREEL Shorts & Animation. This committee, comprising artists, filmmakers, and executives, selects the films after reviewing the eligible submissions. The final shortlisted films have the opportunity to be nominated for AREEL. Each year, new membership opens to allow voting on nominees.
Head of Judging Team:
Dennis Nana Acheampong, Founder and Executive Director, has honed skills not only as a producer but also as an actor and in various behind-the-scenes roles, including costume design, script supervision, and continuity. He ventured into other aspects of the film industry and established Acheampong Studios Ltd., focusing on film and arts.
Adama Ndjol Kouyaté, a Multilingual Storyteller (speaks 5 African languages, French & English), Impact Investment Director, and African Culture Advisor, is a Cinephile who has been a Contributor/Jury to the AREEL and Acheampong Magazine, reviewing short films for festivals. Her love for cinema, especially African cinema, is something she continues to develop.
Tony Asankomah conceived GhMoviefreak to advance film and theater culture in Ghana. Through contributions across digital platforms, he has become a prominent voice in the nation’s burgeoning film critique landscape. As Ghana’s only Tomatometer-approved critic, Tony Asankomah represents development for his country’s cinematic aspirations.
